Hair has always been a symbol of male beauty, sensuality and virility. Unfortunately, a significant number of men lose their hair, often starting at a young age, after suffering from androgenetic alopecia. Strong and beautiful hair at any age is now possible thanks to modern hair transplant technology using the FUE method, which is applied to very high standards by the staff of the Starmed clinic. Hair transplantation is an outpatient surgical technique, through which hair follicles are taken one by one from the back of the head, called the donor area, and placed in areas where hair is missing (recipient area). The technique used is FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction), which is not associated with marks or other damage to the donor or recipient area.
What should we know about the procedure?
It is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia.
Tests required: blood count, coagulation tests and ECG.
Average duration of 5 – 8 hours.
Discharge the same day, after the procedure.Note: in cases where the receiving area is relatively large, the transplant can be performed in several separate sessions.
Post-operative advice:
- The use of antibiotics usually up to 5 days after the operation.
The night of the transplant should sleep carefully, so as not to hit the head in the area where the hair bulbs are taken.
Wash the hair after 1 – 2 days, with water at room temperature with neutral shampoo, then they can be washed daily.
Apply an elastic bandage the day after the operation, for 48 hours, to reduce swelling on the forehead.
To soften the crusts formed, after 10 days, in the evening you can apply oil to the skin and in the morning you can wash your hair normally.
After 10 – 15 days the planted hair may fall out, but the bulbs remain intact.
Hair growth continues with normal progress, which means that the result takes 3 – 4 months to be noticed.
Check-ups with Starmed staff according to our clinical protocols.
